The Chapelle Saint-Saturnin, situated within the historic grounds of Château de Fontainebleau, is the oldest chapel on site. Constructed during the reign of Francis I, it features a dual-level design: a lower chapel for staff and an upper chapel for the royal family. This Renaissance oratory once contained Raphael's renowned Grande Sainte Famille until the 17th century and features an intricately designed coffered ceiling and a lantern providing light to the sanctuary. Over time, it saw less use and eventually became Napoleon I's library in the 19th century. Visitors can admire its architectural charm and historical importance.
