Strawberry Fields is a landscaped "Garden of Peace" within Central Park in Manhattan, established as a living memorial to John Lennon following his 1980 murder. Dedicated in 1985 and designed by landscape architect Bruce Kelly, the name refers both to the Beatles song and to a Liverpool children's home. The focal point is the black-and-white "Imagine" mosaic, gifted by craftsmen from Naples, Italy, surrounded by planting beds, benches and winding pathways close to the Dakota building where Lennon lived. Over time it has become a site of pilgrimage, creative tribute and public remembrance, noted for informal musical gatherings and commemorative events. The memorial lies within park opening hours and does not charge admission. Accessible routes and seating are provided and the area is cared for in partnership with park conservation organisations.
