Located in the Tepebaşı quarter of Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, Pera Müzesi was established by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation in 2005 within a restored late‑19th‑century building that formerly served as a hotel. The museum’s historical significance lies in its role as a bridge between Ottoman, Turkish and Western art histories: it houses a notable collection of Orientalist paintings—including iconic works by Osman Hamdi Bey—alongside Kütahya tiles and ceramics and Anatolian weights and measures. Renowned for its permanent collections and rotating international and local exhibitions, Pera Müzesi also attracts attention for its interior architecture and curatorial programmes that explore cross‑cultural encounters. The institution maintains regular public opening hours, charges admission with concession policies, and provides general accessibility provisions for visitors with reduced mobility.
