The Munttoren, or De Munt, is a historic tower in Amsterdam. It was originally part of the Regulierspoort, constructed between 1480 and 1487, and has functioned as a mint since the 17th century. Standing at 35 meters tall, the tower features a remarkable carillon with 38 bells, played manually every Saturday at 2 PM. Located at Muntplein, it is near the famous Bloemenmarkt and is a lively intersection. Visitors can appreciate the impressive architecture and delve into its rich history, notably the contributions of the Hemony brothers to the carillon. The tower is easily accessible by public transport, and enjoying the surrounding area incurs no admission fees.
