حصن الفهيدي, شارع علي بن أبي طالب, بر دبي, السوق الكبير, دبي, الإمارات العربية المتحدة
Al Fahidi Fort (حصن الفهيدي) in Dubai is the city’s oldest surviving building, dating from the late eighteenth century. Erected as a defensive fortification on Dubai Creek, it retains watchtowers, thick coral-stone walls and evidence of historic artillery, and has fulfilled administrative and communal roles over time. Converted into a museum in the early 1970s, it presents traditional Emirati life, pearling and maritime trade through dioramas, artefacts, weaponry, archaeological material and restored interiors. The fort holds cultural importance as a direct reminder of Dubai’s pre-oil heritage and of efforts to preserve local history. Principal attractions include the fort’s historic fabric and courtyards, permanent ethnographic and archaeological exhibitions, and the towers. The site is open during standard museum hours with a modest admission charge and provides basic accessibility measures despite some historic constraints.
