The Aquincum Museum, situated in the Óbuda district of Budapest, presents the remnants of the ancient Roman city of Aquincum. Founded on 10th May 1894, it houses Hungary's most extensive collection of Roman archaeological finds. Visitors can wander through the vast archaeological park, showcasing ruins of significant public buildings, private homes, and a reconstructed Roman villa. Notable highlights include the Aquincum Water Organ and an array of Roman mosaics and sculptures. The museum's new building, inaugurated in 2007, features the permanent exhibition "In the Shadow of the Roman Eagle," focusing on soldiers' lives along the Pannonian limes. The site is well-connected by public transport and offers guided tours. Admission prices are affordable, but please refer to the official website for details on hours and fees.
