Yoros Kalesi is a medieval fortress overlooking the Bosphorus at its junction with the Black Sea, close to the fishing village of Anadolu Kavağı on Istanbul’s Anatolian side. Its roots are in Byzantine coastal defences; the castle was enhanced by Genoese occupants and later became part of Ottoman maritime security. As a cultural landmark it embodies centuries of naval strategy, trade and cultural exchange; the ruins — curtain walls, towers, cisterns and foundations — are of archaeological interest. Principal attractions are the remaining fortifications and broad views across the Bosphorus and the Black Sea. The site is generally open to the public under seasonal arrangements and usually involves a modest admission or municipal oversight; steep, uneven terrain and limited on‑site facilities mean access can be challenging for visitors with mobility impairments.
