The Dolmabahçe Camii (Bezm‑i Alem Valide Sultan Mosque) is a mid‑19th‑century Ottoman mosque on the Bosphorus waterfront near Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. Commissioned by Bezm‑i Alem Valide Sultan and designed by members of the Balyan family, it exemplifies Ottoman Baroque and the era’s westernising influences. Distinctive elements include a broad central dome flanked by twin minarets, an elaborate interior of İznik tiles and calligraphic panels, coloured glass, and finely carved marble and woodwork, together with notable chandeliers historically associated with the neighbouring palace. The mosque holds cultural importance as an imperial foundation that reflects court patronage and aesthetic change during the Tanzimat period, and it continues as an active place of worship. Visitors should observe its religious role and local customs: access may be subject to prayer times, modest dress is customary, photography and movement inside can be restricted, and accessibility and facilities follow local provision.
