Mahmudiyah, a neighbourhood in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, is rich in history, initially established as an Arab agricultural village in the mid-19th century. The area derives its name from the nearby Mahmudiya Mosque, famous for its Ottoman aqueduct. Once surrounded by verdant citrus and olive orchards, Mahmudiyah has been incorporated into the urban fabric of Tel Aviv, while still retaining traces of its agricultural roots. Visitors can discover several historical features, such as ancient wells and the remnants of village homes. Though the identity of Mahmudiyah has diminished due to urbanisation, it presents a significant insight into the cultural legacy of the region and the Arab heritage that has influenced modern Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
