Robson Square is a prominent civic plaza and public complex in central Vancouver, developed in the late twentieth century and principally designed by Canadian architect Arthur Erickson as an integrated civic and cultural precinct. Historically it transformed a downtown block into a layered public space that incorporates legal institutions, civic functions and urban landscape design. The site is culturally significant as a long-standing venue for community gatherings, seasonal activities, demonstrations and arts programming. Key features include a stepped plaza with terraces and green spaces, a striking cascade/water feature, an outdoor performance amphitheatre and a seasonal ice rink, together with public art and close connections to nearby Robson Street and cultural institutions. As a public space it is generally open daily; specific facilities and events follow seasonal schedules and may have separate fees. The complex was conceived with accessibility in mind, offering ramps, level routes and connections to nearby transit.
