Porta Ticinese, formerly known as Porta Marengo, is one of the six principal gates of Milan, constructed in neoclassical style by Luigi Cagnola between 1802 and 1814. Situated to the south of the city, it is an important historical site that was part of the Spanish fortifications. The gate features a significant inscription from 1815 that commemorates peace. Nearby attractions include the medieval gate and the Columns of San Lorenzo. Visitors can appreciate the lively atmosphere of Piazza XXIV Maggio, where the gate is located. It is easily accessible via public transport, and there is no admission fee.
