Sjöguden, or "Sjögudens glada stunder," is an impressive sculpture by Carl Milles situated at Skeppsbron in Gamla Stan, Stockholm. Crafted from red granite in 1913, it features a large sea god leaning over a modest mermaid. Although Milles intended to create ten similar sculptures along the city's waterfront, only Sjöguden came to fruition, being finally placed in 1930. This piece marks a significant evolution in Milles' style, shifting towards aquatic motifs. Visitors can enjoy this cultural landmark in the historic area of Gamla Stan, which is accessible all year round, with no entry fees to see the artwork.
