The Obelisco Matteiano, situated in Villa Celimontana, is one of Rome's thirteen ancient obelisks. It dates back to the era of Pharaoh Ramses II and was erected in the villa's gardens in 1820. This obelisk originated from the Temple of Isis in Campo Marzio and was moved to its present location after being gifted to Ciriaco Mattei in 1582. Standing at 12.23 meters tall, including its base and globe, it offers visitors a glimpse into ancient history. The villa's gardens are open to the public with no admission fee. Easily accessible by public transport, it is a significant site for enthusiasts of ancient history and architecture.
