The Elora Cenotaph is an important memorial that commemorates those who perished during the Great War. Dedicated on November 10, 1929, it symbolizes the community's deep connection to the war's impact. Originally, a captured piece of German artillery marked the site until the cenotaph's design by Captain George Hunter was selected. Standing at 16 feet tall and made from La Casse granite, it features engravings of local soldiers' names alongside elements like Crusaders' swords and a cross. The cenotaph later included inscriptions for the Second World War and Korean War, serving as a lasting tribute.
