Paphos Castle, situated at the western end of the city port, is a medieval fortress with a notable history that dates back to the Byzantine Empire. Initially constructed to safeguard the port, it has seen various modifications, including significant restorations by the Ottomans in 1592. The castle's large rectangular tower provides a glimpse into the region's architectural heritage. As a prominent landmark in Paphos, it hosts cultural events, including the annual Paphos Outdoor Cultural Festival. Visitors can access the castle daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM in winter and until 7:30 PM in summer, with an entry fee of €2.50. The ground floor is accessible for wheelchair users, while the upper level is not.
