The Perfume House, part of Al Shindagha Museum on Dubai Creek in the historic Al Shindagha quarter, interprets the centuries‑old perfume culture of the Arabian Gulf. Located within the Dubai Historic District, the permanent collection displays traditional perfume‑making utensils, ingredients such as oud, saffron and regional roses, archival photographs, artefacts and audiovisual and interactive exhibits. The venue explores historic perfume‑trading routes that connected the region to wider markets and examines the social and cultural roles of scent in regional life. An onsite perfumery and shop complement the displays, offering demonstrations and opportunities to engage with traditional blending techniques. As a focused cultural institution within a recently renovated heritage neighbourhood, the Perfume House combines preservation, interpretation and living craft to illuminate the region’s olfactory heritage.
