Beylerbeyi Sarayı (Beylerbeyi Palace) sits on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus in Istanbul as a mid‑19th‑century imperial summer residence and guest palace. Built for Sultan Abdülaziz in the 1860s and designed by members of the Balyan architectural family, the palace combines Ottoman and European Second Empire influences and features lavish interiors — Iznik tiles, marble, crystal chandeliers and gilded woodwork — alongside formal gardens and a waterfront terrace. Historically it served as a diplomatic reception house for foreign dignitaries and as a visible symbol of late Ottoman modernisation. Principal attractions include the ceremonial reception and throne rooms, former private apartments and ornamental pavilions, with panoramic Bosphorus views. The site functions as a museum with seasonal opening patterns and a variable admission charge; some historic areas have limited wheelchair access while main ground‑floor spaces are generally more accessible.
