Sabil Suliman is a historic public drinking fountain situated near the Jaffa Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. Constructed in 1536 CE during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, this Ottoman structure boasts a distinctive triangular shape with three arched facades. It provided clean drinking water for travellers and pilgrims, embodying Sultan Suleiman's vision for a beautified Jerusalem. The fountain is embellished with elegant Islamic stonework and Arabic inscriptions. After falling into neglect and being repurposed as a police outpost during the British Mandate, it has been restored to highlight its unique architecture. Sabil Suliman is a silent witness to nearly 500 years of history, underscoring its significance as a cultural landmark in Jerusalem.
