Casa Padellàs is a late 15th-century Catalan Gothic town-palace originally commissioned by the Padellàs family and moved, stone by stone, to the Plaça del Rei in the early 20th century to preserve its fabric. A notable example of civil Gothic architecture, it presents a vaulted inner courtyard, ornate façades and elaborately decorated interior rooms that illustrate domestic life of the medieval bourgeoisie. The building forms part of the Barcelona City History Museum (MUHBA) and hosts historical displays and temporary exhibitions interpreting the city’s medieval past. Its cultural importance rests on both architectural merit and its pioneering role in conservation. The site is open with general museum visiting hours, maintains a modest admission fee framework and offers partial accessibility adaptations suited to a historic structure.
