Hadrian's Gate (Hadrian Kapısı) in Antalya is a well‑preserved Roman triumphal arch erected to honour Emperor Hadrian’s visit around 130 CE. Incorporated into the old city walls of Kaleiçi, its three‑arched façade, ornate columns and classical motifs exemplify imperial Roman architecture in Anatolia. Over centuries the gate became embedded in the urban fabric, witnessing Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman phases and later conservation efforts that have highlighted its archaeological and cultural value. As an emblematic landmark it anchors Antalya’s historic district and stands near other significant monuments and the former harbour. Scholars and conservators regard the gate as important both for its architectural craftsmanship and for what it reveals about the city’s layered history, urban continuity and regional identity in the eastern Mediterranean.
