The Henkerturm is a historical tower situated in the western part of Nürnberg's medieval city wall. Constructed between 1320 and 1325, it initially protected the Pegnitz river's outlet. It ceased to serve a military purpose by 1400, becoming home to the city executioner, a role explored in the Henkerhaus museum opened in 2007. This museum showcases the criminal history of Nürnberg, with insights from the diary of executioner Franz Schmidt. Visitors can enjoy the architectural features and views from the nearby Wasserturm and Henkersteg bridge. Accessibility is available, with varying visiting hours and admission fees.
