Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate is a 19th‑century fortified palace that served as a regional seat of the Glaoui family and a local administrative centre. Constructed of rammed earth and adorned with carved plaster and painted cedar wood, the kasbah comprises towers, courtyards, private rooms, storerooms and a granary that together typify traditional southern Moroccan kasbah architecture and social organisation. Historically both residential and defensive, it is a cultural landmark of the Draa‑Tafilalet region and has appeared in international film productions, connecting it to Ouarzazate’s cinematic heritage. General visitor arrangements are in place: the site is open to the public with an entrance fee and seasonal visiting hours, while accessibility is limited by uneven surfaces, narrow passages and stairs.
