The Musée de Cinéma in Ouarzazate opened in 2007 in a former Italian film studio constructed in 1981. The museum preserves a substantial collection of vintage film sets, props, cameras and technical equipment, housed within four main buildings that feature throne halls, a small jail, a torture room, a jinn court, an Asia‑Pharaonic room with photographs of international stars, and a technical wing displaying historic cinematographic apparatus and boats used on Lake Ouarzazate. Situated opposite Taourirt Kasbah, it complements the nearby Atlas Studios and reflects Ouarzazate’s prominent role in Moroccan and international film production. The institution is culturally important for recording local film craftsmanship and set design. In June 2024 several sets suffered notable fire damage, an incident now part of its recent history.
