Porta Garibaldi - Free Audio Guide

Porta Garibaldi, formerly known as Porta Comasina, is one of Milan's six principal gates, situated in the northern sector of the city along the ancient route to Como. Constructed in the 16th century and redesigned in a neoclassical style by architect Giacomo Moraglia between 1826 and 1827, it boasts a magnificent arch and customs houses. This historical site gained prominence during the Italian unification, particularly when Giuseppe Garibaldi entered the city in 1859. Today, visitors can explore the adjacent Piazza XXV Aprile and nearby attractions. Porta Garibaldi is easily accessible via public transport, and the surrounding area is pedestrian-friendly. There is no admission fee to visit the gate itself.
