Todmorden Mills, located in the Don River valley of Toronto, is a historic site that originated as a lumber mill in the 1790s. Initially known as 'Don Mills,' it evolved into a small industrial complex and village. Today, it houses the Todmorden Mills Heritage Museum and Arts Centre, which features a museum, art gallery, theatre, and a nature preserve. The site's history includes significant events like its operation by the Taylor family in the 1850s and its use as a prisoner of war camp during WWII. Opened as a museum in 1967, Todmorden Mills preserves four historic buildings and serves as a cultural landmark in East York.
