Tayasu-mon, situated in Kitanomaru Park, Tokyo, is a significant cultural property and historical gate of the former Edo Castle. Constructed around 1636, this wooden gate exemplifies traditional Japanese architecture. The gate features a high entrance and a turret, creating a square shape known as a masugata. Visitors can appreciate its picturesque surroundings, particularly during cherry blossom season. The site forms part of the Edo Castle ruins, designated as a Special Historic Site. It is open to the public free of charge and is readily accessible from Kudanshita Station with a brief walk. The adjacent park provides a tranquil retreat in the city centre, appealing to both history buffs and nature enthusiasts.
