Casa di Goethe in Rome is a museum and cultural centre dedicated to the German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, commemorating his residence in the city during his Italian Journey (1786–1788). Housed in a historic Roman building, it preserves period rooms and exhibits manuscripts, letters, prints and objects that illustrate Goethe’s life, his artistic connections to Italy and his influence on European culture. The institution organises rotating exhibitions and cultural programmes exploring literary, artistic and historical links between Germany and Italy. It operates regular opening hours with ticketed admission; adapted facilities, accessible routes and informative labels assist visitors with reduced mobility, and guided presentations are provided occasionally. The centre also maintains a specialist library and research resources on Goethe and 18th–19th century cultural exchange.
