Ponte Cestio, also known as Pons Aurelius, is a historic arch bridge in Rome, constructed between 46-44 BC by Lucius Cestius. It links Tiber Island to the right bank of the Tiber River, situated near Trastevere. The bridge was substantially renovated in the 4th century, and its current structure was completed in the 19th century following severe damage during the 1849 siege of Rome. Visitors can appreciate the exquisite travertine and peperino stonework. The surrounding area provides stunning views and a lively atmosphere, perfect for leisurely walks. There is no admission fee, and the bridge is accessible all year round.
