The Rheinturm is a 240.5‑metre concrete telecommunications tower in Düsseldorf, Germany, constructed between 1979 and 1981 and inaugurated on 1 December 1981. It carries aerials for directional radio, FM and television and acts as a prominent city landmark and the tallest building in Düsseldorf. The tower contains a public observation deck and a revolving restaurant at about 168 metres, offering panoramic views of the Rhine and the urban landscape. A notable feature is Horst H. Baumann’s Lichtzeitpegel, a shaft-mounted light sculpture that serves as the world’s largest digital clock. Historically and culturally, the Rheinturm symbolises Düsseldorf’s modern skyline and technological advancement and contributes to local visual identity and events. The site is open to visitors with regular visiting hours, charges an admission fee, and provides lift access and basic accessibility provisions.
