The Arsenal of the Maritime Republic in Amalfi, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, was once central to Amalfi’s naval power, serving as a shipyard for constructing and repairing war galleys. It housed the influential Tabula Amalphitana, a maritime code that guided sea laws for centuries. Today, only part of the structure survives, with two large stone halls showcasing maritime artifacts and a row-barge from the Historical Regatta. It now functions as a cultural space and since 2010, includes the Compass Museum, which explores navigation history. The site reflects Amalfi's rich maritime legacy, with echoes of its vibrant past reverberating through its vaulted halls.
