The Church of San Cristoforo is a significant Catholic place of worship located in Siena. Originating from the 11th-12th century, this church has played a crucial role in the city's history, serving as a meeting place for the Republic's General Council before the construction of the Palazzo Pubblico. The church is notable for being the site where the Senesi decided to engage in the pivotal Battle of Montaperti in 1260. Its neoclassical facade, reconstructed in the 19th century, features impressive artwork and a unique Romanesque cloister. Inside, visitors can admire works by renowned artists, including the marble group depicting the Transito di san Benedetto. Although it is no longer a parish church, it remains a cultural landmark, used for liturgical and pastoral activities for students.
