The Gasteig, located on the eastern banks of the Isar River in Munich, is one of Europe's largest cultural centers. Opened in 1985, it houses the Philharmonie concert hall, the Munich Philharmonic, the Munich City Library, and various event spaces. The center has a rich history, initially conceived after WWII to replace lost cultural venues. Visitors can explore diverse performances, including concerts, theater, and exhibitions, attracting around 750,000 attendees annually. The Gasteig is currently undergoing extensive renovations expected to be completed by 2025. It is accessible by public transport, and while entry to the building is free, individual events may have admission fees.
