The Chapelle Saint-Saturnin, located in the historic Château de Fontainebleau, is the oldest chapel within the palace grounds. It features a double chapel structure built during the reign of Francis I, with a lower chapel for servants and an upper chapel reserved for the royal family. This Renaissance oratory previously housed Raphael's famous Grande Sainte Famille until the 17th century. The chapel boasts a beautifully designed coffered ceiling and a lantern that illuminates the sanctuary. Although it became less used over time, it eventually served as Napoleon I's library in the 19th century. Visitors can appreciate its architectural beauty and historical significance. It is recommended to check current visiting hours and any admission fees prior to your visit.
