Osaka Castle Tenshukaku, the main keep located in Chūō Ward within Osaka Castle Park, is a landmark founded by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583 during the Azuchi–Momoyama period. The complex has undergone repeated destruction and rebuilding across centuries, including major events in the early 17th century and wartime damage; the current tower was reconstructed in 1931 in reinforced concrete and was later adapted to house a museum. The museum presents artifacts and exhibitions on the Toyotomi and Tokugawa eras, castle architecture, and the site’s layered history. The grounds include monumental stone walls, extensive moats and surviving turrets, and the keep offers panoramic city views. Designated a nationally significant historic site, Osaka Castle remains a powerful cultural symbol of the city and an important focus for historical interpretation and seasonal cultural observances.
