The Diamond Quarter, known as Diamantkwartier, in Antwerp, Belgium, is a historic hub of the global diamond trade. Covering about one square mile, it has been a center for diamond cutting and trading since the 15th century, significantly shaped by innovations such as the scaif polishing tool. While much of the cutting work has moved to lower-wage countries, approximately 84% of the world's rough diamonds pass through this district, making it the largest diamond district globally. Key attractions include the Antwerp World Diamond Centre and various trading exchanges. Visitors can enjoy a vibrant neighborhood with numerous shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby. The area is easily accessible, located next to Antwerp Central Station and a short walk from the Meir shopping street. As a cultural melting pot, it reflects the contributions of Jewish, Jain Indian, Lebanese, and Armenian communities to the diamond industry. Note that most businesses close on Saturdays.
