The War Memorial in Savona, known as Monumento ai Caduti, is a significant tribute honoring those who fell in all wars. Designed by sculptor Luigi Venzano and inaugurated in 1927, the memorial features a marble base and bronze figures, crafted from melted cannons of World War I. It holds rich symbolism, depicting pivotal moments from the conflict. Daily at 6:00 PM, the city observes a tribute with 21 tolls of the bell, marking a moment of silence for remembrance. The monument includes a seated veteran and a departing soldier, symbolizing the war's beginning, alongside figures representing mourning and grief at its end.
