Palazzo Reale, formerly known as Palazzo Petrucci, is a historic building in Siena located in Piazza Jacopo della Quercia, opposite the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Constructed in the late 15th century by Jacopo Petrucci, it later served as the residence of notable figures, including Cardinal Raffaello Petrucci. Following the fall of the Republic of Siena, the palace was sold to the Medici family, who enhanced its grandeur. The palace became a symbol of Florentine rule and housed the Governor of Siena during the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Today, it serves as the Prefecture and is known as Palazzo del Governo, reflecting its cultural significance and rich history.
