The Munttoren, also known as De Munt, is a historic tower located in Amsterdam. Originally part of the Regulierspoort, it was built between 1480 and 1487 and has served as a mint since the 17th century. This 35-meter tall structure features a unique carillon with 38 bells, which is played manually every Saturday at 2 PM. The tower is situated at Muntplein, a bustling intersection close to the famous Bloemenmarkt. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful architecture and learn about its rich history, including the significance of the Hemony brothers who created the carillon. The tower is easily accessible via public transport, and there are no admission fees to enjoy the surrounding area.
