The Akureyri Botanical Garden, known as Lystigarður Akureyrar in Icelandic, is a notable botanical garden located in Akureyri, Northern Iceland. Established in 1910 by local women aiming to enhance the beauty of their city, it is recognized as the first public park in Iceland. The garden began with a hectare of land and has since expanded to approximately 3.6 hectares. Situated at an elevation of about 45 meters on the west side of Eyjafjörður fjord, the garden is one of the northernmost botanical gardens in the world, approximately 50 kilometers south of the Arctic Circle.
