حصن الفهيدي, شارع علي بن أبي طالب, بر دبي, السوق الكبير, دبي, الإمارات العربية المتحدة
Al Fahidi Fort (حصن الفهيدي) in Dubai is the city’s oldest extant structure, built in the late 18th century. Originally constructed as a defensive stronghold on Dubai Creek, it features watchtowers, thick coral-stone walls and traces of historic artillery; it also served administrative and community functions through successive periods. Since its conversion into a museum in the early 1970s, the site interprets traditional Emirati life, pearling and maritime trade, with dioramas, artefacts, weapons, archaeological finds and restored interior spaces. The fort is culturally significant as a tangible link to Dubai’s pre-oil past and to ongoing heritage preservation. Key attractions include the fort’s architecture and courtyards, permanent ethnographic and archaeological displays, and historic towers. The site is open to visitors during standard museum hours with a modest admission fee and offers basic accessibility accommodations while retaining historic features that may limit access in some areas.
