The Bandenboot, created in 1974 by artist Robert Jasper Grootveld, is a unique sculpture located in Amsterdam’s Wittenburgervaart. Originally designed as a playground for children, the artwork consists of 225 automobile tires held together by chains. After being disassembled in 2009 due to safety concerns, it was reinstalled on stilts in the water in 2012. The Bandenboot is culturally significant as it reflects the creativity of 1970s Amsterdam and Grootveld's innovative spirit. Visitors can appreciate this artistic landmark for free, and it is accessible to the public year-round.
