Vrata od Ploča, or Ploče Gate, is the eastern entrance to the historic city of Dubrovnik, located in the Ploče area. Built in 1450 by Simon della Cava, the gate features a Romanesque style and consists of an outer and inner gate connected by a stone bridge. The inner gate is adorned with a statue of Saint Blaise, the city's patron saint. Historically significant, it served as a key point of entry during the Austro-Hungarian occupation in the 19th century, when a wider gate was added. Visitors can explore the architectural beauty and historical context of the site, which is part of the Dubrovnik city walls, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The gate is accessible year-round, and while there is no admission fee specifically for the gate, accessing the city walls does require a ticket. Tourists are encouraged to visit for a glimpse into Dubrovnik's rich history and stunning architecture.
