Acacia Park, 115, East Platte Avenue, Historic Uptown, Downtown, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, 80903, United States
Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs was donated by founder General William Jackson Palmer in 1871 and is recognized as the city’s first park. Together with Antlers and Alamo Square Parks it forms a trio of historic downtown public spaces with longstanding civic and cultural roles. Recent revitalization under the Downtown Historic Parks Improvement Project reimagined the park with contemporary amenities, including a permanent ice arena, an elevated viewing deck, an artificial turf amphitheater and a renovated bandshell used for summer concerts. A new playground completed in 2022 features an artistic "Ninja Warrior"-style climbing structure, a tot lot with rubberized surfacing, a slide and a spinner; other features include Uncle Wilber’s Fountain, picnic seating and shade trees. As a public municipal park it generally offers access during park hours with no routine admission fee; scheduled events or specific facilities may have separate arrangements, and pathways and facilities are designed to accommodate diverse accessibility needs.
