Çiçek Pasajı, commonly called the Flower Passage, is a historic covered arcade dating from the late 19th century on Istiklal Avenue in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul. Built on the site of an earlier cultural venue and rebuilt after 19th‑century fires, it became famous for its florists and later for a compact concentration of meyhanes, restaurants and cafés that reflect the district’s lively social life. Architecturally it preserves elements of late‑Ottoman and European arcade traditions, with an enclosed gallery and ornate detailing that convey the era’s urban character. Culturally, the passage embodies Beyoğlu’s cosmopolitan entertainment history and layered social fabric. The passage itself is generally accessible to the public without formal admission; individual businesses set their own hours and charges. Because the structure is historic, some areas may have limited accessibility and a mix of preserved historic elements alongside modern interventions.
