The Dolmabahçe Camii (Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan Mosque) is a mid‑19th‑century Ottoman mosque on the Bosphorus waterfront near Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. Commissioned by Bezm‑i Alem Valide Sultan and associated with the Balyan family of architects, it exemplifies Ottoman Baroque and the period’s westernizing influences. Notable features include a spacious central dome with twin minarets, an ornate interior of İznik tiles and calligraphic panels, coloured glass, and richly carved marble and woodwork, complemented by prominent chandeliers historically linked to the adjacent palace. The mosque is culturally significant as an imperial foundation reflecting court patronage and aesthetic transition during the Tanzimat era, and it remains an active place of worship. Visitors should respect its religious function and local customs: access may vary with prayer times, modest dress is customary, photography and movement inside can be regulated, and accessibility and facilities are provided according to local arrangements.
