King's Manor is a Grade I listed building in York, originally constructed to house the abbots of St Mary's Abbey. Dating back to the 15th century, it served as the seat of the Council of the North after the abbey's dissolution in 1539. Throughout its history, it has hosted notable figures, including King James I in 1603. The building is now part of the University of York and houses various academic departments, including the Department of Archaeology. Visitors can explore its historical architecture and notable rooms, such as the Huntingdon Room, which has hosted significant meetings.
