The Sofia Roman Amphitheater is an archaeological monument located in the heart of Sofia, Bulgaria, just 300 meters from the East Gate of ancient Serdica. Dating from the late II to early III century, it features a unique combination of a Roman theater and a late antique amphitheater. Discovered accidentally in April 2004 during the construction of the Arena di Serdica Hotel, its size rivals that of the Colosseum in Rome, measuring 60.5 meters long and 43 meters wide. The site is accessible to visitors and offers a glimpse into Sofia's rich history. Guided tours are available, and while there may be no formal admission fees, donations for archaeological preservation are appreciated. The amphitheater is a must-see for anyone interested in ancient history and cultural heritage.
