The Obelisco de Caja Madrid, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, is located in Plaza de Castilla, Madrid. This striking monument stands 92 meters tall and serves as a tribute to the city, funded by Caja Madrid with contributions from the Madrid City Council. Inaugurated on December 23, 2009, it is inspired by the Romanian sculpture, the Column of the Infinite. Although it was intended to have a dynamic feature with moving bronze elements, it became non-operational shortly after its opening. The obelisk has become a symbol of modern Madrid, making it a popular spot for visitors. Accessible via public transport, it is a must-see for those interested in contemporary architecture and urban landscapes.
