The Casa di Dante, or the Museum of Dante's House, is located at Via Santa Margherita 1 in Florence, Italy, in one of the city’s oldest areas. The museum is dedicated to the life and works of Dante Alighieri, one of the most significant figures in Italian literature and the author of the "Divine Comedy." Historically, the museum is situated near the site where Dante is believed to have been born, under the parish of San Martino, although the exact location is uncertain. The adjacent Church of Santa Margherita de' Cerchi is thought to be where Dante first met Beatrice Portinari, a pivotal figure in his life and writings. The current structure incorporates medieval houses, notably one of the towers belonging to the Giuochi family, neighbors of the Alighieri family. The museum's medieval appearance was established during a restoration in 1911. Visitors can appreciate its architectural features, including stonework and a bronze bust of Dante. Since June 24, 2020, the museum has introduced a new multimedia and interactive exhibition that provides an engaging experience of Dante's life, covering his roles as a man, soldier, politician, and poet.
