The Leon Pancaldo Tower, also known as Torretta, is a medieval landmark in Savona, rising to 23 meters and serving as a symbol of the city. First mentioned in records from 1392, it was originally part of the city's defensive walls guarding the harbor. Named after Leon Pancaldo, a navigator who sailed with Magellan, the tower features a fresco of the Republic of Genoa’s crest and a niche with a statue of Our Lady of Mercy crafted by Filippo Parodi. Now the headquarters for the Italian National Association of Seafarers, it underscores Savona’s rich maritime heritage.
